Dr. Chandra, Will I Dream?

 the wee ramble…

“Dr Chandra, Will I dream?” is the haunting question, Hal, the computer asks in the face of impending doom in the sequel to A Space Odyssey..

“Yeesha, last night your mother had a dream…”  are the words that began an epic search for an ancient and mysterious civilization whose secrets were written into lost linking books. The brilliant and philosophical Myst series  was created by Rand Millar and Cyan.

Dreams have held great meaning through history . Freud was the first to try to interpret them psychologically as unconscious wish fulfillment and Jung believed they were expressions of  a universal consciousness, of symbol, myth and metaphor. There are  dreamers who journey into the subconscious by night and dreamers who seek fulfillment by day.

When we move through the  canvas of an exotic dreamscape, shapes and shadows that culminate in strange encounters can elicit intense and very real emotion. Poets, painters, philosophers, saints, and ancient seers alike, were inspired by the vision of dreams.   The aboriginal people of Australia still believe that the “dreamtime” is another world and another journey as real as life

and so I too was inspired to create this little video of images I turned into dreams. Some  were taken with an infrared camera which perfectly suits that ethereal landscape.  Music is included.

Dr Chandra Will I Dream

turn up speakers

I used Wondershare Filmora (a rudimentary video program) and Mirage effects

with my infrared camera  I sometimes use a separate IR filter which brings out the reds or in other cases blues and then put the images through the Photoshop channel mixer for interesting colour effects.

What a beautiful vid, my friend! I prefer to go with Jung’s ideas of dreams because I do sometimes have lucid dreams that are extremely helpful to me. These dreams, I feel, are the reality because I can see, hear, feel and experience them in exactly the same way as the waking state, there is no difference. Then some very special dreams are linked to my meditations and are nourishing and full of Love. If you are feeling down, try this… the early morning light (dawn light is good) should fall on the back of your head for a while – this clears depressive states via the light element which is very pure at this time of day. Also, sitting cross-legged on the Mother Earth, and placing your hands palms down on the Earth is another great clearing technique for the emotional body. ❤

    1. many thanks Moz- I often do Tai chi out in the forest ( when the weather permits lol). It does help but I shall try your suggestion too. S.A.D. does play into it.

That is an absolutely riveting video. The imagery is perfect for the quotes. You are extraordinarily talented. I am sorry to hear you are still feeling down. I hope you find a way to shift that soon and come into a brighter, lighter sense of self – I’ll say it again – you are extraordinarily talented!
On dreams – I don’t often remember my dreams but this morning as I did my shopping a sequence from last night’s dream came back to me. In the dream I had bought a big carton of eggs but by the time I opened it all the eggs bar two were broken – and I never buy eggs in real life for I can’t digest them! In the dream I cooked up the two remaining eggs. I wonder what it means?

    1. Much gratitude for your support Suzanne!! I fear that I just have to soldier on with these dark moods. They do pass. As for dreams I think of eggs as hatching ideas? Sometimes we don’t use all our eggs lol!! What does it say to you?

Yes I thought something along those lines about the eggs. Maybe Seasonal Affectional Disorder plays a part in your moods. It does with me. We get a lot of grey days here. Some days I don’t perk up till we get a bit of sun in the late afternoon.
