Watch and listen to 7 year old Rhema sing Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah
“I heard there was a secret chord
that David played and it pleased the Lord”
A special Christmas Exhibit at the SL Paris Metro Gallery
From Inara Pey:
“Cybele’s art has a unique beauty that I consider to be unsurpassed in its depth and narrative; pieces that are hauntingly fascinating, encapsulating worlds of wonder and mystery or reflecting wonderment and innocence through portrait and study.” It is this feeling of capturing a moment that is particularly attractive about Cybele’s work. Her pieces are incredibly intricate in form and construction, the balance of light, colour, focus and theme utterly sublime; where looking at her art, I cannot help but see them in terms of an orchestra, different elements and layers, skillfully woven into a whole under the guiding hands of the conductor – or in this case the artist.
Yet, at the same time, there is a marvelous sense that each piece, far from being composed, has been captured in a fleeing moment, as if the mind has taken a snapshot of a dream or the eye a single moment of time played out before us in a world where wonder, innocence and beauty define all we see, and perhaps say and do.
In the meantime, and as she references it in her own blog post, I’ll leave you with an astonishing rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah by Rhema Marvanne, and recorded when she was just eight years old, and which sits as a perfect companion to the art Cybele presents in both the exhibition and her blog post.” Inara Pey’s blog, Tales of a Winter Sun in second life

There is a time in the hushed solitudes of falling winter,

while the dreaming earth stirs softly beneath her frosted blanket,

where for a moment, we remember innocence and magic, and the incredible awe of being,
where hope is renewed in the lighting of candles and a star leads the way to Bethlehem,
Where grievances are put aside as we open our wounded hearts to receive the seeds of rebirth

Where my own dreams flow to the sacred music of haunted woodlands and enchanted children.

and old tales are retold with feasting and friends
where the lost are found and the poor are blessed

and where angels walk among us
and do visit My Little Match Girl

This post is soothing and uplifting. Your words, your sentences . . . The way you use them . . . Something flows out of them and it reaches deep into the soul and touches something there. Magical words, magical pictures, magical flow. I have always enjoyed the song by Leonard Cohen. It is in my all-time playlist. Thank you, Cybele.

I, too, have been buried with day-to-day requirements and hope to be back more fully in the new year. I sincerely wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas at this joyous time of year. ❤

What a wonderful talent you have – and what a place for exhibition! Magical and evocative images indeed – with Mr Cohen as perfect accompaniment – that’s how the light gets in – for Hanukkah now. I doubt your Muse will be cryogenically still for long!

many thanks for your visit Laura!! Isn’t that song wonderful. I was always a big fan. You know the poet Rumi stated ” a wound is the place where light enters” I think it’s true. May this holy time for so many bring peace!

Thank you for the wishes and the visual feast.
Your last statement had me curious but an internet search resulted very little. Well, lots of stuff, but not anything where I could search the content.
Regardless, congratulations on the exposure of your work to the public. Hope good things come from it.

Ah; nice. I wish you luck in connecting with buyers.
But, yes, it’s difficult these days making serious (and sometimes, any) money because there’s so much competition out there. Unless one gets a lucky break or endorsement, no matter how talented, one can linger in relative obscurity for an indefinite amount of time.
Not trying to sound pessimistic, but these days it’s difficult to break out without persistent marketing.
My anecdote is that I’ve had many people tell me I should sell my photos . . . but when I ask them if they want to buy them, they quickly backtrack and say they meant “sell them to other people”.

-since Amanda has tried to explain, I will add – for those who are skeptical about such a place – there has been a movement of art and creativity there that has really taken off. For example, Bryn Oh is a world wide known artist who won an art grant from the Ontario Arts Council to build an installation in the virtual world. She has done amazing work there. There is also a strong literary movement such as that of Seanchai Library who have readings and discussions etc. There are even virtual classrooms. There is a niche for one’s own interests ( if that further clarifies it).
