Autumn Singing

oh listen to autumn’s  symphony,

as leaves fall in tuneful arpeggios.

The birch and poplar are keyboards playing to an alto wind,

and I want to be a leaf  held in the soft hands of it’s drifting melody.

Gabriel’s Oboe by Ennio Morricone ( from the Mission) Piano and flute

Autumn is taking hold  and I’m letting summer expectations fall into the earth’s weaving of  her colourful quilt as  she prepares us for winter’s slumbering quiet.

As some of you may have noticed I have slowed down in the blogosphere.  My attentions have been diverted elsewhere (not all creative!), I’ll probably continue to be somewhat sporadic for awhile but I hope by the end of the year I will be doing  better. I hope all is well with my friends and followers and I will be still checking out your blogs (excuse my “behindedness!”), and also posting a few pics to Flickr between blog posts.

this was my submission to Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness this last week

Summer end’s lament

and a song sparrow sings a farewell to summer

My sister is now living in Sidney by the Sea, an hours’ drive away and  here are two images from a fine early fall day in that pretty little port!

“A moment later Jonathan’s body wavered in the air, shimmering, and began to go transparent. “Don’t let them spread silly rumors about me, or make me a god. O.K., Fletch? I’m a seagull. I like to fly, …” Jonathon Livingston Seagull

and a little visual nocturne I composed by the stream near my house

Beautiful autumnal images, Cybele, and the music from Ennio Morricone is a perfect accompaniment. I love all your photos but your your visual nocturne is just so lovely. It seems you and I are alike in having had a less-than-perfect year. I also hope that next year will bring better things. Look after yourself.

  11. I love Morricone’s music, especially the sound tracks from those old Clint Eastwood movies and Once Upon a Time in the West. And that scene in The Mission where the priest (Jeremy Irons) plays his oboe for the natives is just exquisite! Have you ever seen any of those Morricone concerts (lots of them on YouTube) where opera singers sing the clarinet / oboe parts? Fantastic!

Superb pictorial prose and pensive moodiness flirting with romanticism,Cybele dear.Wonderful photographic work imbued with illusionistic detail and shadowy dark hues of high aesthetic values.I’d spend hrs looking at the summer end’s lament and your majestic visual nocturne while listening to the heavenly, accompanying music.I synchronised it to your splendid images …
Enjoy a beautiful & peaceful autumn day 🙂 xxx

Beautiful post – beautiful music, art, and poetry – what more could one ask? Summer end’s lament reminded me of artwork by Tom Walker painted to “accompany” music written by a friend of mine, Michael Ferguson. The artwork is here: https://www.tomwalkerartist.co.uk/tournemire-voyage-9?lightbox=dataItem-izmpdozn. Mike’s music, with accompanying artwork is here: https://youtu.be/lr9kVnDO5Lg. I thought you might enjoy it.
