Songs and Dreams

Here I am again at last, on the threshold of a dream. I’ve been feeling very quiet and still lately but ….

this is my contribution to Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness 4-7.  All are welcome to submit monochrome images!  (my images are places on Vancouver Island.)

The Threshold of a Dream

My tongue is silent

Cradled in it’s dark cavern

My voice is caught somewhere between the breath and strings

of a forgotten chord

I stand on the threshold of a dream

Not moving, but hearing everything,

Seeing, feeling,

waiting for the right moment

to step

outside the prism of my thoughts

into some sublime wail.

( every once in awhile I hear  Euterpe’s whisper though I don’t often write in poetic form)

….but, check out the secret song of a tree stump!

In spite of setbacks and some lows this last while I finally managed to get my tiny garden going and I have visitors! Deer and bunnies come to the little rise at the back. I can walk into the woodland and up the mountain from there. I tried to plant some deer resistant flowers if there are such things!

Morning singing

“Something calls to me
The trees are drawing me near
I’ve got to find out why
Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh”

  9. That’s all quite beautiful, the photos and the poetry. Your new home sounds wonderful, if not idyllic. My mother has deer visiting her garden. I’ll ask her (and let you know) which flowers and plants they don’t like to eat. I know they don’t touch her tulips, daffodils, or bluebells.

    1. Thanks Sarah, I ‘m going to look that up online too! Glad you liked another attempt at poetry!!

      1. My mother says that deer eat everything, even some stuff that’s poisonous to other animals. I take back what I said about tulips and daffodils, too! And, apparently, they enjoy raiding the food left out on bird-tables. …So all I can say, Cybele, is good luck with gardening 😉 They are beautiful animals, though, and I saw one only yesterday trotting along ahead of me on a mowed path across a meadow.

I’m always amazed by the way you create/edit your photos. The ethereal appearance is simply gorgeous and you picked the Moody Blues song well to accompany them Their music has a haunting kind of quality.
It must be wonderful to have deer visit your garden, although my husband (a madly keen gardener) would probably go bonkers. Another lovely post, Cybele.

  16. Your poem captured so well my feelings. Love it. My feelings have just ebbed and flowed the past couple of months. Of course, part of it is probably because so has this cold I’ve been contending with for about that long. Sigh. I absolutely love your photos (old news from me, I know). Ah, the Moody Blues. I do believe I still have their CD packed away around here somewhere. It was wonderfully nostalgic to hear part of it again. Hope all is well. Have a beautiful weekend, my friend! 🙂
