A plethora of flowers

Here we are again, immersed in Spring which, due to the fickleness of west coast weather, is never predictable!

But regardless of weather, by May,the wild flowers arrive in meadow and parkland.

For Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness (4-3), I have chosen a nymph of the flowers, one of the anthousai, and you can find her in meadow and woodland, singing and dancing with her sisters.  Sylvia Plath dedicated a poem to her cousins, the dryads, in The Plethora of Dryads, and so the same can be said of flower nymphs. A profusion of them are flowing over hillside and boulevard in wild abandon, staining the earth in Camas lily blues, and buttercup yellows, with their passing feet.

  2. So lovely 🙂 And it brings back memories of when my daughter used to alternate between being a flower nymph and a tree fairy, depending upon whether she was in the mood to skip or climb!

    1. awww! I think I did too! 😀 thanks so much Sarah! How’s the new publication doing!

      1. Which new publication? I haven’t published anything new since my MG children’s book last year. No new publications at the moment, as I’m testing the traditional route to publishing, to see if there are any takers for my adult speculative fiction novel. Wish me luck, Cybele. It’s a tough old market out there.

      2. I do wish you good luck!!!! I meant how is Noah and the Dog People doing. I haven’t got around to that one yet.

      3. Unfortunately, the Noah book isn’t doing anything very much, following an initial flurry of interest. Methinks that marketing is a skill that I need to work at. It’s such a hard balancing act between interesting people in a product and turning this off by being too over-the-top and pushy. I’ve designed a new cover for it, but the prospect of writing of snappy tweets and FB comments brings on an instant attack of writer’s block. Today, I’ve braved doing my first publisher submission in 3 years, so that’s progress. Interestingly, directly after sending it off, I saw two magpies in the garden which I hope is a sign of joy related to my book with that very bird’s name in its title!

      4. Oh I bet. It is very daunting and probably the reason I tend to procrastinate!! I will read it when I finish a few others that are ahead. yes lets hope the magpies are a sign!!

      1. Oh I love them! Wisley has a mass of them planted that I have used for outdoor portraits of couples for engagement photos in the past 🙂 I think they are probably coming to an end now. I’ve always gone with a very soft and light process inspired by the pastel colours but I really like the richness in yours 🙂
