My submission is The Windy Wicklow Way
In the Wicklow Mountains at Glendalough there is the site of an ancient monastery founded by St. Kevin in the sixth century.
Around 1042 Norsemen used the timber in Glendalough to build the second largest Viking Long Ship (Havhingsten fra Glendalough).

Beautiful images, Cybele … so atmospheric. They certainly conjure up thoughts of mysterious, long-gone days and magical beings – and, of course, invading Vikings!

Those trees in that forest almost reach heaven. I wonder how many years they took to grow that tall. Naughty Vikings cutting such lofty trees down for the sake of making war and occupying other countries D:

That is so kind,. There’s certain blogs I wouldn’t miss. If I have then it is cos my reader collapsed on me and never loaded the posts. But I usually find them the next time I come by. I love the beauty and originality of your blog.

Beautiful images! I wonder what magic that Viking ship held built with the timber of that forest? 🙂

well, Brian Boru defeated them at the Battle of Clontarf (near Dublin) thus ending a Viking domination of Ireland. So the forest fairies couldn’t have looked kindly at their taking of the trees ! 😀 Thanks Deb!
