Those old familiar places and Monochrome Madness

I’ve been walking around our area with the sunshine at last. I can’t believe I will be soon moving after many years here and I’m looking forward to the new adventure. I also have to confess that suddenly over the last few days I began having feelings of melancholy as well. Change is a good thing because I know we can’t hold onto anything. We can only love and let it go. So I’m throwing things away as I pack, bits and  pieces of my journeys- and  precious little to mark a life, – but, we really need very little to take with us on our way. The most important things are always intangible.

When things get really bad, just raise your glass and stamp your feet and do a little jig. That’s about all you can do.

and of course “dance me to the end of time.“-Leonard Cohen

I will be looking forward to exploring the new neighbourhood which is out on Mill Hill and not too far from the Lake. Here are a few scenes from my current neighbourhood.

Nothing feels as familiar to me as Queen Annes Lace the white flowers in the foreground. I used to call them Fairy Beds.

What wonderful photos. They really capture the feeling of nostalgia for past times that you write about. I particularly like the second one. No wonder you will miss the farmhouse – it looks magnificent. Good luck on your new adventures.

  5. Leaving such beauty and memories behind is always hard (trust me!) but the beauty and memories to come will make up for it. That’s the great thing about memories, we always have them and no one can take them away! 😀 I’ll be anxious to see your new place! ❤

Cybele, I wish you great happiness in your new home. Yes its always sad to leave, but maybe sadder never to have known or experienced, somewhere or someone. And never a truer word said – “The most important things are always intangible”! Love these images, especially the deer. A 🙂

Panta rhei, “everything flows”.All entities move and nothing remains still,we can never step twice into the same stream …Isn’t Heraclitus right? Many the deer in the woods but you’ll never capture the same glance.Oh,how beautiful and expressive is your deer photo and all your “packed” memories from your current place.Melancholic feelings and memories have their own way to come back and stir up our lives, but they are sweet;I couldn’t live without them …

    1. what a beautiful quote. I do believe it all flows and constantly changes. We can’t hang on to the past but must embrace what comes always. and yes melancholy is also a part of the Celtic spirit. I so agree with the sweetness! Big hug to you my dear friend! Panta Rhei!

  14. Wishing you lots of happiness in your new home, where I’m sure you’re camera(s) will be unpacked first!
I love that beautiful deer in the photo. My mother has a deer that visits her garden and feeds from the bird-table, along with a fox, and a pheasant — all at the same time, as if there’s a truce, or the fox is a vegetarian.
