Rush Hour in the Highlands

More from the Isle of Skye, on the inner Hebrides, Inverness shire

There is a rhythm of it’s own, unhurried, sheep everywhere, gulls crying and mist coming in from the seas,  the mountains and the glens.

Chì mi na mòrbheanna  ( a haunting Gaelic lament)

I see the mist covered peaks…

I am just now going through the hundreds of photos of my summer trip. It’s been nothing but rain here on the island and I’m still at that low energy level. Blogging has taken a back seat and I haven’t been out much taking photos. I’m doing a couple of on line courses and this very distracted person is trying to stay focused (no pun intended) and on track!!

As I wrote before, Skye is full of old Norse names, the fjords ( firths) and lochs and even the jagged outcroppings of mountain rock. I am heading to the  mysterious, perpetually mist covered craig  called  old man Storr and a popular hiking area.

and here wandering enchanted gardens in the rain (another hand held slow shutter that turned out not too badly- as opposed to the dozen that did not!!)

Tutorial on “here’s how it’s done!”

Get ready to compose your shot, inhale and then exhale “om” three times.   Press the shutter and wait for time to stand still-  don’t move, don’t breathe ( these done simultaneously) – Voila!  😀

  1. Exquisite images, Cybele! A country near and dear to my heart, as my grandparents emigrated from there to the U.S. Someday I hope to get there. Until then, I have your gorgeous photos!

Beautiful images, as always. But I have to say, you’re a meany. I really thought there was a tutorial on how you edit. 😦

    1. Tracey, you know sometimes I forget what I did. a little tweak here and there etc. I did use a filter to warm up the mists on old man storr but faded it down. The water fall has the PS adjustment “foggy night” colour lookup – again faded down a bit!! Thanks Tracey!!

You need motivation to shoot and you found it in the Isle of Skye, dear Cybele.Fine Art photography in the illusionary world of clouds.Beautiul misty scape and soft escaping light through the dense masses of the clouds! The Waterfall and the Walled garden are equally enchanting, loved the blurred dof through the gate,it makes it more appealing!Take care 🙂

How interesting to learn that Skye is the old name for fjords…
The second word was quite familiar to me as in spanish we call them fiordos, which sound pretty much alike…
The photographs are mystical and stunning, dear Cybele… Thanks so much for sharing them… Sending love and best wishes. Aquileana 🐉☀

Your Scotland images are so beautiful! Some day I hope to take pictures there. And my deepest apologies! I have not seen you in the stream. It’s so frustrating when the stream prevents over a certain amount of likes because I don’t check every day anymore which then creates a problem when I do. Hope you are doing well and enjoying the weekend.

WP is glitchy lately too I’ve noticed. Well it’s always been kinda glitchy but lately it’s more than normal on my end. Makes following kind of difficult sometimes and then it settles down.
