Week 4 of Robyn Gosby’s One Four Challenge – Meg’s Pearls
“For.. In an abrupt and terrible twist of fate Meg never returned from that far off place of monsoons and sudden hurricanes.“–The short story A Canticle for Meg
In this process and overlay I wanted to portray a sense of sacred peace. I used the glow of a stained glass window and then I added the old family photograph to look as though it was gently laid beside the keepsake pearls. I tried to give a sense of faded memories dissolving into the light.
and as I often like to include interesting pieces of music in my posts here is a lovely old piece called “Wind from the South” by the Chieftains.

I have changed my mind. I didn’t think you would top last weeks photo, but you did, this weeks is beautiful! I love it, combined with the photo….perfect! 🙂

Oh this one is just lovely, I like the pinks, but mainly I like the old photo and the church window it so fits the story! I voted for week 4, but I also like week 2 with the big ship overlay. All your images this month have been great! 🙂

Dear Dune, this sang to my Irish spirit…what a majestic post and the old song is divine! Beautiful.
The rendition with the gull is the one that is most in tune with me, as I can hear his lofty scamel scream coalescing beautifully with the music and somber moaning of a distant sea…beautiful, nostalgic renditions. I just loved them all. Fabulous.

Very nicely done for week 4. It was interesting to see them in the context of the quotes your provided. I also liked week 2 in conjunction with its quote. But I went for week 4 with my vote.

I love how each of your images tells more of Meg’s story – this week is gorgeous and so are the others. I cant pick one favourite – they go together as one set.

thanks so much Stacey. I am still learning and experimenting. The important part to me is the telling of a story! If I manage that in the image I’m happy and it just happened that this image I chose lent itself to the story so well. 🙂 I enjoyed doing this series.

Oh Cybele, you’ve made it hard for me to choose between week 3 and 4.. I loved the warm honey colour and old world charm of week 3 but the reflection of light which looks to be coming from a window just charmed me to pick that one, but only by a slim margin 🙂

Stunning, Robyn…a true grand finale. I love the weaving of the story here, the tragedy, the emotion. Marvellous. For my part, I’m stumped, I think my image reached its apogee last week….ah well
