Walking in View Royal

I had a little fun here with the Nik Analog filter that gives photos a vintage look or  an old plate photograph touch.

Fort Rodd Lighthouse across the cove

I live near the water and I’m close to many regional park lands.  The mountains in the distance are The Olympic Range on the American side, across the Juan de Fuca Strait.

The westcoast of the island is spectacular. View Royal is a more rural area but well connected to the town of Victoria.  My brother ( 50 something) and his friends just finished walking the famous, grueling and beautiful West Coast Trail for the last 6 days, through rain forest, torrential mud (the trail when it rains), and over mountain, raging river and chasm carrying 30-40 lb. back packs and watching for bear and cougar.  He saw three people airlifted out by medivac.  No, I’m not in the least bit interested!!  I prefer to be home at tea time and at bedtime.  I’m off to Scotland and Ireland at the end of August!!

  1. The vintage treatments are lovely. That cove with the lone house on the water looks so pretty, and peaceful.

Have a wonderful time on your trip. Both Ireland, and Scotland are my “bucket list”.
My bucket list just grows and never gets any shorter. 🙂

Just magnificent! I’ve hiked the area of the Juan de Fuca Strait, and it’s just MAGNIFICENT. One of the most beautiful areas I’ve been blessed to see.

How lucky for you to visit Ireland and Scotland, my family’s ancestral home. I’ve been to Scotland, but never Ireland. Can’t wait to see your images!

  7. That first picture looks like an old oil painting! Brilliant. I love the other pictures, too, especially the light effects in the last one, which help create an illusion of a very long journey and this feeling of wanting to see what is beyond the furthest point visible.

I love Nik. I have all their products. They grandfathered me into the entire suite since I had Nik Color and SEP for a long time. I’ve even downloaded additional textures for analog and imported them. You can even create your own and import them! Wait a sec….more civilized? Are you saying we are running amok over here? lol
