this is my submission this week to Leanne Cole and Laura Macky‘s Monochrome Madness
I haven’t been feeling well this last while (but I’m getting better) and not out much taking photos so I took an old one and reworked it. This place is burned into my imagination and all views of it and the mystical Orkneys remain with me and inspire me!

Night Bird by Deep Forest
visit Star Child Musings
A few more
Here is a bird I haven’t identified from Central America and though I call him Night Bird I took this photo at dawn and also one of another more sinister companion of the lagoon. The rest are taken close to home on a neighbouring and less menacing lagoon. I love herons, as to me they look like ancient pterodactyls.
Background
On the bay was taken two years ago with a little Kodak EasyShare (!! then I got a real camera) and there is some distortion on the pier but I liked it anyway. I used filters in photoshop for a dreamy effect. Night bird and dinosaur were taken with a Canon Powershot and I used the pinhole effect in photoshop.
Wow ! I love Salisbury and its environs . Stonehenge is quite something in your image here 🙂

I have photoshop on my computer. Now to learn to use it! But wow, those photos of yours are amazing — especially as they were taken with what you considered not to be a proper camera (I was going to say “improper” camera, but decided my clumsy sentence more accurately conveyed what I was trying to say!)

thank you so much Sarah, and I love that- improper camera!! Photoshop can fix up lots of improprieties!! 😀 It took me awhile to get on to Photoshop but there are some online tutorials to help with that!

I must say this was my favorite shot this week, 🙂 A stunning image. I remember seeing this on that TV show around Xmas, ‘A history of ancient britian’, I would love to see this for myself. I am officially jealous 🙂
Hope you are feeling better soon 🙂

thanks so much Ed!! and wasn’t that a wonderful series!! I hope you can visit there. Like Newgrange in county Meath there is a similar 3000 year old tomb in the Orkneys called MaesHowe with chambers inside and also Viking grafitti!!!! ( Eric was here and looted the place!) although it might have just been a case of a band of roving norse taking shelter from a storm there but wanting to remain in character. lol. There is also a world heritage site excavation of a neolithic village going on now and also the immense standing stones of Stenness near the ring of Brodgar. Pardon me, I never get tired of going on about these sites – like Poulnabrone etc!!
